Key actors in CHED's activities have gathered in Aburi for a strategic workshop ahead of the nationwide distribution of CODAPEC and Hi-Tech inputs for the 2025/26 cocoa crop season.
The workshop brings together Management and staff of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED), the Seed Production Division (SPD), the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), Special Services, Legal and Public Affairs Departments, the Cocoa Management System (CMS) Unit, as well as members of the CHED Management Committee to fine-tune modalities for a smooth implementation of the programme.
The meeting is aimed at aligning strategies, strengthening collaboration, and ensuring the seamless implementation of the inputs distribution programme across all cocoa-growing regions and districts.
Welcoming participants to the workshop, Dr Richard Adu Acheampong, Executive Director of CHED, underscored the importance of a successful distribution exercise, noting that the effective delivery of inputs remains critical to improving cocoa productivity and supporting the livelihoods of cocoa farmers across the country. He indicated that the workshop provides an important platform for stakeholders to review operational plans, address potential challenges, and strengthen coordination mechanisms ahead of the nationwide rollout.
Dr Adu Acheampong further described the workshop as a critical precursor to the success of the programme and urged participants to actively engage in discussions and contribute practical solutions that would enhance implementation. He also encouraged managers and supervisors to effectively cascade the knowledge, updates, and operational directives acquired during the workshop to their respective teams to ensure uniform understanding and execution at all levels.
On behalf of the Management Committee of CHED, Dr Francis Kofi Oppong urged staff to attach importance to the workshop and openly offer suggestions to improve the rollout strategies.
The Director of CODAPEC, Mr Abu Seidu, outlined the new modalities introduced for the upcoming distribution exercise and called on all stakeholders to work collaboratively and diligently to eliminate bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and ensure a smooth, transparent, and accountable implementation process.
The workshop featured presentations from participating units and departments, highlighting their respective roles, responsibilities, and implementation strategies. Discussions focused on strengthening coordination, leveraging technology, enhancing monitoring and reporting systems, and ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of inputs to cocoa farmers nationwide.
