The Bunso Cocoa College (BCC), a Division of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has organised a cocoa recipe cooking competition as part of a series of activities to mark the 75th Anniversary of the College
The event was under the theme “Celebrating Excellence in Tree Crop Training and Nurturing the Next Generation through Quality Tertiary Education”.
In her welcome address, the Rector of Bunso Cocoa College, Dr. Mercy Asamoah, praised the contestants for accepting the invitation to participate in the contest and for showcasing their culinary skills, especially using cocoa as the main ingredient.
She observed that the College, established by COCOBOD in the 1950s, has the mandate to train undergraduates based on the core values of integrity, excellence, commitment, and loyalty, to significantly contribute to increasing productivity and enhancing research in agricultural extension.
Dr. Asamoah noted that the theme for the celebration was well chosen as it aligns with one of the College's main goals, which is supporting the cocoa economy by promoting sustainable farming practices and enhancing culinary cocoa recipes and domestic cocoa consumption through high academic standards.
Dr. Mercy Asamoah expressed appreciation to the Management of COCOBOD and other stakeholders for their ongoing support to the College in training students with the necessary knowledge in agricultural extension and agronomic activities to ensure the sustainability of the cocoa industry.
She used the occasion to commend the staff of the college for their hard work and commitment to excellence and advised them to remain disciplined, punctual, and focused as they work diligently to ensure a centre of academic excellence for a sustainable cocoa industry.
