COCOBOD, in partnership with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), undertook a 3-day training programme on Gender Mainstreaming in the Cocoa Sector for all COCOBOD directors and heads of subsidiaries and divisions. The training programme aimed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical tools required to integrate gender perspectives into policies, programmes, and daily operations.
Key topics of discussion at the training programme included deepening the understanding of gender concepts and practical applications in cocoa operations, strengthening institutional capacity to integrate gender into policies, strategies, and programmes, equipping participants with tools for mainstreaming gender in extension, research and management, and building tools of advocates in COCOBOD to support the implementation of the draft GESI Policy.
In a welcome address read on behalf of the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Operations of COCOBOD, the Deputy Director of Research at COCOBOD, Mr Simon Crown, emphasised that the training programme was a strategic step in fulfilling the Ghana Cocoa Sector Development Strategy II (CSDS II for 2017/18–2026/27).
