CRIG MANAGEMENT JOINS CHIEFS TO MARK OHUMKAN FESTIVAL

The Management of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) joined the chiefs and people of the Abuakwa North Municipality to celebrate the 2025 Ohum Festival at Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region. 

The delegation, led by Dr. Kofi Owusu Domfeh, Acting Executive Director for CRIG, was received at the Awansa Palace by Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, the Akyem Tafohene.

The festival, which coincided with the 40th Anniversary of the reign of Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, Chief of Akyem Tafo was used to mark the beginning of the new yam season and also to give thanks to God Almighty, the gods, and the ancestors, and seek their protection for the coming year.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Dr. Owusu Domfeh conveyed COCOBOD and CRIG's solidarity to the chiefs and people and pledged to support the development efforts of their communities. Dr Domfeh lauded the peaceful co-existence between the community and CRIG over the years and called for a more enhanced collaboration in the future. 

The delegation, as part of their contribution to the celebration, presented customary items to Daasebre  Adusei Peasah IV of Tafo, Daasebre Boamah Darko of Kukurantumi, Osabarima Abiam Brakatu II of Bunso, and Barima Ata Awuah Kwakye of Ati.

The delegation included Dr. Daniel Nyadanu, Acting Deputy Executive Director in charge of Cocoa and Kola; Mrs. Augusta Nyako, Deputy Executive, General Administration; Mr. Samuel Mawudeku, Head of Plantations & Sanitation; Ms. Linda Adoma Amoah, Deputy Manager, Human Resources; Mr. Napoleon Elorm Ahadjigah, Head of Transport; Mr. Richard Berchmans Armah, Principal Public Affairs Officer; Mr. Lloyd Brobbey Adasi, Principal Public Affairs Officer and Mr. Geoffrey Opoku-Darko, Public Affairs Officer.
