NEW MATERNITY WARD OF COCOA CLINIC RECORDS ITS FIRST TIME TWIN DELIVERY

Date: 05th October 2025

The newly built maternity ward at Cocoa Clinic of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) in Accra has recorded its first set of twin deliveries, marking a major milestone in the clinic’s effort to expand its delivery services to include maternal and child health services in the country after 53 years of the clinic’s existence.

The babies, two bouncing girls, were delivered safely by a team of midwives and doctors at the clinic led by Dr Paul Adomako. Both mother and children are said to be in good health and have since been discharged from the facility.

The mother of the twin, Ms Cilla Kerr-Rabbles, who shared her experience, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the medical team for their outstanding care and expertise in ensuring a safe and successful delivery.

She further commended the medical team for the exceptional care they provided during her labour, describing it as the best she has ever experienced among all the facilities she has visited for childbirth.

“This is my second delivery at a facility other than Cocoa Clinic, and I can say that the assistance and care I received from the medical team here have been the best. Even though it is my first time delivering at this hospital, the staff treated me with so much love and professionalism,” she said, beaming with joy.

“I have come to develop great trust and confidence in Cocoa Clinic regarding all medical issues, and I encourage the general public to do the same and not hesitate to patronise the facility,” she added.

The Ag. Director of Health at Cocoa Clinic, Dr Kafui Tamakloe, in an interview after the delivery, described the event as a “joyful milestone” for the facility and COCOBOD as a whole. “This safe delivery of twins is not just a happy moment for the family but also proof that our new ward is fully prepared to provide quality maternal care for the residents in the community and the general public.

Dr Tamakloe indicated that his outfit is poised to deliver quality medical care that meets the needs of patients, while strengthening trust and confidence in the facility’s operations; therefore, the successful twin delivery underscores the importance of expanding the operations of the clinic to reduce possible maternal and child mortality rates in the surrounding communities.

He used the occasion to encourage expectant mothers in the surrounding communities and the general public to take advantage of the new facility for antenatal care and safe delivery.
